2014 a very special year for Shakespeare lovers

Thursday, 6. February 2014 10:51

2014 will mark the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth and our 5th year as a touring theatre company. To celebrate we have chosen to perform Shakespeare’s classic farcical comedy The Comedy of Errors and his greatest tragedy Macbeth.

Both plays will be directed by Ed Viney who last year directed the highly successful A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Our fight director, Dan Styles has assured us of some amazing sword and fight sequences.

We are thrilled to be returning to Reading School, Kentwell Hall, Windsor, Arundel Castle, Taunton, Chepstow, Bristol and York.

Some exciting new venues will be announced shortly!

Actors wishing to audition can send their CV’s and a headshot photo to: GB Theatre Company Ltd, 17 Boileau Road, Barnes, London SW13 9BJ. Auditions will take place in the early spring and our 2014 cast will then be announced.

Ticket info for the remaining July shows…

Tuesday, 9. July 2013 11:12

Tonight (Tuesday) we perform A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Reading School and The Merchant of Venice on Wednesday. Tickets will be available to purchase on the door. Bring your family and friends, picnic, suncream, sunglasses, sunhats and something warm to wear when it goes cooler later in the evening. This is a joint venture between GB Theatre Company and The Reading School to help raise funds for the school.

Thursday we perform The Merchant of Venice at the magnificent Chepstow Castle in Monmouthshire. Friday, Saturday & Sunday and we are again taking part in the Bristol Shakespeare Festival performing at Brandon Hill.

Our final shows in July take place at Kentwell Hall, a magnificent Tudor House at Long Melford in Sussex. It really is the perfect setting for open-air Shakespeare. If you are coming to the evening performances, you might want to try the fabulous ‘Kentwell Suppers‘ (see www.kentwell.co.uk for details).

We would suggest booking now as these shows might sell out! [ BOOK ONLINE ]
